Dean's Message

Kyongbum Lee

Welcome to the Tufts University School of Engineering! In our School, world-class faculty mentor the next generation of engineering and science leaders. As a school in a student-centered research university, our strong research portfolio sets us apart from the traditional liberal arts colleges, while our liberal-arts-based engineering education makes us unique among major research universities in the country.

Our students bring forward ideas with confidence in the lab, in the classroom, and beyond. Their contributions are invaluable to the strength of our research, instruction, and community. They are global citizens and engaged members of our local communities in Medford and Somerville – all in a rich, rigorous research environment that never loses the feel of a small liberal arts college.

At Tufts, engineering students, faculty, staff, and alumni are driven by innovation. They make technological contributions that shape society and build the foundation for a better future. They engineer solutions that matter as part of an engine for good. As a community, we are collaborative by nature, innovative in spirit, and focused on making a difference. Together, we have built an environment for learning and discovery unlike any other.

I hope you will peruse our website as well as our Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions websites. While on-campus visits are currently limited due to COVID-19 precautions, we offer a number of virtual tours, events, and other opportunities (undergraduate, graduate) to learn more about our community of scholars and the depth, quality, and breadth of our programs.
