Enrique Acero is a visiting scholar from the Austrian Centre of
Industrial Biotechnology, Tulln (Austria), where he focuses on
developing different industrial processes covering enzymatic
functionalization of natural and synthetic polymers and enzymatic
recycling of synthetic polymers.
Soumyaranjan Mohanty is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Micro- and
Nanotechnology, Technical University of Denmark. His research interests
focus on developing 3D microstructures for tissue engineering
applications. While at the Kaplan lab, he is focusing on 3D
silk-silica/HA composite scaffold generation of bone tissue engineering
and its application.
Alexandra Rollett, Ph.D.
Alexandra Rollette, Ph.D., is a visiting post-doc researcher from the
University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (Austria),
where she is a member of the "Biomaterials- and Enzyme-Technology" group
led by Prof. Georg Guebitz. She has a background in formulation and
modification of protein nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery. At
Tufts, she works on the development of stimuli responsive hydrogels from
silk-elastin like polymers (SELPs).
Ke Zhang is a visiting scholar from the Department of Chemical
Processing Engineering of Forest Products at Nanjing Forestry
University. His expertise lies in the areas of pretreatment of
lignocellulosic materials, fermentation of sugars to chemicals,
preparation of functional oligosaccharides, preparation of nano
materials from cellulose, and preparation of chitin nano fibers.
Michael House, M.D.
Dr. Michael House is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology
at Tufts University School of Medicine. As a collaborating scientist in the
Kaplan lab, he is working on reproductive tissue engineering systems.
