Research InterestsThere are two primary objectives in our research: Objective 1 – to regenerate new tissues that may be implanted in the body to replace diseased or injured tissues that have limited capacity to heal; and Objective 2 – to develop and implement living tissue models as independent platforms to study tissue development, homeostasis, disease and healing. The primary tissues of interest in this research are tendon, ligament and adipose, with focus extended to associative tissues of mesenchymal origin.
Our interdisciplinary approach to research merges expertise from various disciplines of engineering (materials science, mechanical, electrical), biology (stem cell, developmental, molecular) and medicine (orthopaedics and more).
