Interdisciplinary
Research Opportunities
Several
research opportunities are available for the 2007-2008 academic
year. We seek highly motivated and creative individuals with a strong
interest in understanding, characterizing, and modeling the occurrence,
distribution, and transport of water in the natural environment
from an earth system science perspective. Our research emphasizes
issues of natural heterogeneity over a range of space and time scales
and supports a wide range of contemporary hydrologic study areas
including:
- Possible
Enhancement of Hydrologic Cycle Due to Climate Change: Identification
and Hydrologic Implications
- Remote Sensing
of Surface Processes
- Scale Issues
in Land-Atmosphere Interactions and Climate Modeling
- Remote Sensing of Water Quality and Water Borne Diseases: Detection,
Modeling, and Prediction
- Development of Medium (several weeks) to Long (seasonal) Range
Forecasting Tools for Water Resources Planning and Management
in Developing Countries.
Students must
have a bachelors or masters degree in one of the hydrology interfacing
disciplines including but not limited to, atmospheric sciences,
engineering, geography, geology, mathematics and physics. An excellent
undergraduate education with a solid physical and mathematical background
and computational skills are required. For more information and
consideration for financial assistance, please contact me at shafiqul.islam@tufts.edu
with a brief description of your educational background and research
interests. |
