Today, mechanical engineers are involved with just about
every engineered product that we use in today’s world—
transportation systems, electronics and computers, energy
systems, biomedical devices, robots, and much more.
Here at Tufts, we have embraced this diversity along with
interdisciplinary education and research. Our faculty is
versed in mechanics, thermal and fluid sciences, materials,
acoustics, and system dynamics and control – but we are
involved in research in sustainable design, energy,
mechatronics and robotics, biomechanical systems, human
factors, and even musical instrument design.
While we are practice-oriented in our teaching, we draw on
the rich intellectual environment here at Tufts to
understand the broader issues and opportunities associated
with the work of a 21st-century engineer. At Tufts, our goal
is to educate engineering leaders. Join us as we design the
future.
