Background
Professor Kachanov joined Tufts in 1982 as an Associate Professor after an appointment as
an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. He became a Full Professor at
Tufts University in 1988. He is an Editor-in-Chief of the "International
Journal of Engineering Sciences" and of "Letters in Fracture and
Micromechanics". His Science Citation Index is 3,000.
Research
Professor
Kachanov's research is focused on micromechanics of materials and its
applications to various materials systems, as well as on piezoelectrics. Many
of his works are done in cooperation with industry.
