Advisor wins international award

Briana Bouchard, the student advisor for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was awarded Winner of the Outstanding New Advisor Award - Primary Advising Role from NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.

A mechanical engineering alumna herself, staff member Bouchard supports undergraduate and graduate students in the department. She works with undergraduate students to plan study abroad programs and keep on track for graduation, and assists graduate students with finding research advisors and planning their course schedules. Bouchard also works with faculty to make sure all students get the support they need, and assists with graduate admissions.

NACADA evolved from the first National Conference on Academic Advising in 1977 and has over 12,000 members representing all 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and several other international countries. The organization promotes and supports quality academic advising in institutions of higher education to enhance the educational development of students.
