Biography: 

Van Simmons has been professionally developing applications for Apple platforms for 30 years, starting on the original NeXT cube. He has written code that currently runs in millions of iOS devices around the world for major consumer-facing businesses. He has at one time or another worked with all steps of the process of taking an application from conception, to design, to connection to large scale, high availability backends to testing, to App Store delivery.  In recent years his interests have centered on functional programming and type theory, using Apple’s Swift tool chain.  He has very strong opinions on all aspects of the Apple ecosystem.  He holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management from Vanderbilt University.
