System Integration and Energy Conversion Webinar

Offshore wind energy has emerged as a promising green energy alternative, especially off the US East Coast. Like other large scale fluctuating renewable generation, offshore wind brings both challenges and new possibilities.

Unprecedented challenges and opportunities are appearing worldwide with the increasing saturation of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) connected to the power grid, particularly in terms of better understanding modelling and assessing their interaction with distribution and transmission grids as well as new market arrangements. This calls for digitalization and technologies like AI, IoT, forecasting, control, etc. for an efficient operation of the grids. Innovation Centre Denmark, in collaboration with MIT, DTU, Tufts University, Energinet and Energy Cluster Denmark, has developed a series of webinars that will culminate with an in-person research seminar, when it is safe to gather again, in Boston.

The series will address the challenges and opportunities associated with developing and operating clean, competitive, and secure energy systems with a significant share of renewable energy sources. Furthermore, our webinars will discuss the latest advancements and best practices in various facets of grid integration. The aim of the webinar series is to foster new energy related research collaboration across the Atlantic. The group hopes the webinar will gather researchers, industry policy makers, regulators, and transmission and distribution system operators from the energy community.

Eric Hines, Professor of the Practice in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, will be one of the presenters during the webinar.
