Colin Cooper (E81) has been appointed by Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont to serve as the state’s first Chief Manufacturing Officer. Cooper will be responsible for coordinating state and private sector efforts to promote growth in the state’s manufacturing sector. He will lead statewide initiatives to enhance coordination, collaboration, and partnership among public, private, and non-profit entities, including educational institutions. One of his top priorities will be to build a large, skilled workforce to meet the increased workload that many Connecticut manufacturers are experiencing.

Prior to this appointment, Cooper was Chief Executive Officer of the Whitcraft Group, an aerospace supplier located in Eastford, Connecticut.

Cooper graduated from Tufts University with a bachelor's of science from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
