Six full-time faculty members will join Tufts School of Engineering this fall and spring. These faculty members bring diverse expertise to fields ranging from engineering management to energy-efficient hardware to computer security.

Elaine Chen, Cummings Family Professor of the Practice in Entrepreneurship, Tufts Gordon Institute

Elaine Chen is the new Director of Tufts Entrepreneurship Center. She previously served as an engineering and product management VP at six companies and is Founder and Managing Director of ConceptSpring, a corporate innovation and entrepreneurship consulting company. She received her MS in mechanical engineering from MIT.

Marco Donato, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering

Marco Donato received his PhD in electrical sciences and computer engineering from Brown University. Prior to joining Tufts, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. His research focuses on designing reliable and energy-efficient hardware leveraging emerging technologies.

Bert Huang, Assistant Professor, Computer Science

Bert Huang's research addresses topics surrounding machine learning, including structured prediction, weakly supervised learning, and algorithmic fairness. He completed his PhD in computer science at Columbia University. Before coming to Tufts, he was an assistant professor at Virginia Tech and postdoc at the University of Maryland.

David Lillethun, Assistant Teaching Professor, Computer Science

David Lillethun teaches in the areas of programming, operating systems, networking, and distributed systems and has additional interests in computer science education, cybersecurity, and computing and society. He received his MS and PhD from Georgia Tech, and his prior work experience includes teaching at Georgia Tech and Seattle University.

Aseema Mohanty, Visiting Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering

Aseema Mohanty will join Tufts full-time as a Clare Boothe Luce Assistant Professor in December 2020. Her research focuses on using nanophotonics and engineered light-matter interactions to create miniaturized high performance optical circuits to control, shape, and sense light. She received her PhD from Cornell University.

Daniel Votipka, Visiting Assistant Professor, Computer Science

Daniel Votipka will come to Tufts full-time as an assistant professor in January 2021. His research focuses on computer security, with an emphasis on the human factors in security professional tasks, such as vulnerability discovery, network defense, and malware analysis. He expects to complete his PhD from the University of Maryland in 2021.
