How to Apply to GETT

To apply to the Graduate Engineering Teaching Training (GETT) 2020 program, the following is required:

Post-docs and Doctoral Students:
Applicants from schools outside of Tufts School of Engineering must be recommended to the program by their school's dean. The dean can contact GETT@tufts.edu directly.

School of Engineering Applicants:
Graduate students in Tufts School of Engineering are required to apply as follows:

 

1.    Identify a Potential Faculty Mentor

SOE Ph.D. students should approach faculty with whom they are interested in working. Students must obtain agreement from a faculty member to co-teach a specific course.

  • Teaching fellows may co-teach a course during the summer, fall or spring semesters.
  • Teaching fellows can apply to work with faculty outside their own home department.
  • Students may apply to be a GETT teaching fellow for a course they have been assigned a teaching assistantship (TA) for, provided the co-teaching mentor clearly differentiates between the two roles
  • A faculty mentor can work with only one teaching fellow per semester.

2.     Complete the application form

The faculty mentor/teaching fellow pair will submit a joint GETT Application. Submit the application form via Qualtrics, or email questions to GETT@tufts.edu with the subject "GETT 2020 Program Application."

Applications will only be reviewed once a signed copy is received and will be reviewed by the SOE Graduate Dean.

GETT 2020 Dates and Deadlines

Feb. 18

Electronic applications must be received by 5:00 pm. Applications are jointly submitted by the graduate student and the faculty member with whom they will co-teach a course. 

Late Feb.

Applicants will be notified of their admission status.

Part I

March 16 through March 20 (During Spring break) 8:30 am–4:15 pm

Part II

May 11 through May 20, 2020 8:30 am – 4:15 pm

Part III

Co-teach a course in summer 2020, fall 2020, or spring 2021.
