REAP Optical Laboratory

The Renewable Energy and Applied Photonics (REAP) Optical characterization laboratory is housed in room 3604 and attached to the TEC Facility laboratory suite. The following optical characterization equipment is housed in the REAP Optical laboratory. Please visit the REAP Laboratory website or email REAP for more information and to coordinate use of this equipment or collaboration.

  • Black body radiation sources – for testing of infrared sensitive materials. Shielded low temperature black body, medium temperature black body, and very high temperature black body sources available.
  • 10 sun Solar Simulator source – for testing of photovoltaic devices, intensity variable from 1-10 suns.
  • Photoluminescence (PL) testing – various excitation laser wavelengths, various detectors, and cryostat available, contact REAP laboratory for specifics.
  • Leica DM2700 M optical microscope – Capable of bright-field, dark-field, and DIC/Nomarski imaging in reflection and bright-field imaging in transmission. Objectives available for magnifications between 50 and 1000X. CCD camera included for capturing images and Leica LAS X software available for image analysis.
