MS in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
Students wishing to pursue an MS in MSE can choose a one-year course-based option or can stay up to five semesters to complete a master's thesis and perform research with a thesis advisor.
Tufts offers a number of options to students interested in materials science and engineering, with two graduate degree options directly in the field and the opportunity to work with four dozen faculty from nine academic departments. Some areas of materials research strengths at Tufts include bio-materials, electronic materials, photonic materials, and computational materials.

The PhD program in MSE at Tufts uses the joint PhD model, where a student has a "home" department in one of the affiliated departments. The student must be admitted to the home department first and then apply to join the joint PhD program.
