Currently, three departments are associated with these exciting interdisciplinary programs: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Students apply to and enroll in the joint HRI PhD program through one of these departments (referred to as the 'home departments'), either as a prospective graduate student or as a current graduate student after they have been accepted by one of the departments (e.g., after they have already started their PhD). Students apply to the MS program through the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, or the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
A graduate student in the HRI Program is required to meet the requirements of their home department (Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering) as well as the requirements for the HRI Program. Note, however, that some of these requirements will overlap with one another.
