Certificate in Computer Science

This four-course, graduate-level Computer Science certificate program will update students' skills and broaden their knowledge in computer science. Computer science certification courses are transferable into the Tufts MS program upon acceptance to that program.

The Computer Science certificate requires four graduate-level courses in Computer Science. Completion of the certificate requires grades of B- or better in all courses.

Certificate in Data Science

Apply computing to scientific and engineering analysis and problem solving in this certificate program, using statistics, data visualization, and machine learning. Data science has far-reaching applications in engineering, medicine, business, education, and more. This certificate is jointly administered between the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Certificate in Computer Engineering

In the certificate program in computer engineering, students gain foundational knowledge in connected systems, networking applications, and computer architecture. The computer engineering certificate requires 15 credit hours and all courses must be at the 100 level or above. The program is jointly administered between the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Certificate in Human-Computer Interaction

The program is open to individuals with a bachelor's degree and is especially useful for computer programmers, web designers, software engineers, human factors professionals, user interface designers, and others who wish to develop or enhance their user interface design and implementation skills. This certificate is offered in collaboration with the Tufts Department of Psychology, the School of Engineering, and the Department of Occupational Therapy at Tufts.

Students must complete four courses to earn a Certificate in Human-Computer Interaction, including those in engineering psychology, interface design, and computer programming. Students interested in earning a graduate degree can often apply these HCI certificate courses toward master’s programs in computer science or human factors, or a PhD degree in computer science.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Computer Science

The Computer Science Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program provides the opportunity for academically talented, highly motivated adult students, with at least a bachelor's degree, to prepare for a new career or graduate work in Computer Science. A concentrated, rigorous program of study prepares individuals to start a new career in high technology or to continue on for graduate study.

The Post-Baccalaureate program requires five Tufts courses. The program can be completed in as few as three semesters, or can be pursued on a more long-term basis, taking only one course at a time. Completion of the program requires grades of B- or better in all courses.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Computer Science - Online

The Tufts online Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Computer Science program provides highly motivated and academically talented individuals with the opportunity to re-enter the workforce, move into the fields of computer science and data science, or apply for graduate study. Delivered 100% online, the concentrated and rigorous curriculum spans across computer science disciplines and provides you with foundational knowledge and skills development in data structures, algorithms, hardware, and systems.
