The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers four certificate programs.

Assistive Design: This program serves as a technical credential to professionals interested in expanding their skill set to include designing for the needs of unique populations. The program is open to individuals with a bachelor's degree and is especially useful for human factors professionals, user interface designers, and others who wish to develop or enhance their user interface design and implementation skills.

Human-Computer Interaction: The Human-Computer Interaction certificate program looks at user interface design to develop computer products that meet market needs. The program is open to individuals with a bachelor's degree and is especially useful for computer programmers, web designers, software engineers, human factors professionals, user interface designers, and others who wish to develop or enhance their user interface design and implementation skills.

Human Factors in Medical Devices and Systems: The Medical Devices and Systems certificate program develops and enhances skills in medical/health technology assessment, validation, and overall design. Open to individuals with at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or industry experience), the 100% online or hybrid experience with online and in-person courses develops and enhances skills in medical/health technology assessment, validation, and overall design. It is especially useful for human factors professionals, user interface designers, and those who work in the medical device industry.

Manufacturing Engineering: The Manufacturing Engineering certificate program educates students in the latest technologies through a hands-on, industry-based curriculum, and contributes to the formation of future leaders in manufacturing engineering. The program is open to students with a bachelor's degree and a background in engineering, science, or mathematics.
