Undergraduate Program

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers two undergraduate programs of study:

The BS in Mechanical Engineering program (BSME) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and Program Criteria for Mechanical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs. Of the 120 credits or more required for the professional degrees accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, a minimum of 30 credits must be completed in college level math and basic science subjects appropriate to the discipline and a minimum of 45 credits must be completed in engineering topics, consistent with ABET general and program criteria.

The department administers three minors:

Please visit the School of Engineering's website for a full list of minors available to engineering students. Read this information carefully before selecting an undergraduate major and when planning a program of study.

Planning is particularly important when preparing for meetings with your academic advisor:

  • Students should be aware of other sources of information
  • Student Services is the primary source of information
  • The Department Course Offering announcement is issued every semester before pre-registration
  • The Department website contains additional, specialized information

Please contact us in the ME office if you have any additional questions, or if you'd just like to stop by.
