Biography
Dr. Markus Nemitz serves as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University and leads the Nemitz Robotics Group. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh in 2018, trained as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard until 2020, and joined the Robotics Engineering Department at WPI from 2020 to 2024. Dr. Nemitz received an NSF CAREER award for his work on 3D-printable robots in 2023 and secured funding towards the implementation of robot ecosystems from NSF-RoseHub and the U.S. Army. Most recently he secured funding from the U.S. EPA for the 3D printing of floating photocatalysts to combat algal blooms. He published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals, including Science Robotics, PNAS, and IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters.
