Biography

Tom Vandervelde has a B.S. in both astronomy and physics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and an M.A. and Ph.D in physics from the University of Virginia. Vandervelde has extensive research experience in optoelectronics and photonics. Tom Vandervelde studies the interaction of light with matter and the physics of nanostructures (semiconductor photonics and electronics) and interfaces, with special interest in the area of energy materials.
