Department awards

Each year, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering recognizes alumni and CEE community members who exemplify service and carry on the department's name with excellence.

CEE Distinguished Service Award

2018 recipient: Adjunct Professor (former Professor and Chair) Kurt Pennell, in recognition of his accomplishments as the Chair of the Tufts Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and as a leader in environmental engineering education and practice.

This award is awarded to an alumnus or member of the Tufts CEE community who exemplifies service to their profession and the CEE department.

CEE Outstanding Achievement Award

2018 recipient: David Thompson, E62 and EG68, in recognition of his extensive achievements in leadership in geotechnical engineering practice and research.

This award is awarded to a CEE alumnus whose outstanding achievements in their chosen profession are a bright light that shines favorably on CEE and Tufts.
