Biography

Anne Marie C. Desmarais is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She was a visiting lecturer from 1983 to 1990 and has been a Lecturer in the Department since 1991. Prior to 1991, she was VP of Environmental Risk Management at a Boston-area environmental consulting firm and directed hazardous waste site investigations and remediation. Her interests are in human health risk assessment and exposure modeling, and in community environmental health education. She works with local agencies and community groups to assist them in understanding hazardous waste site cleanups in their neighborhoods, and to provide technical assistance and interface with the Responsible Parties and the regulatory agencies.

In addition to teaching in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, she is the Faculty Advisor for the graduate Certificate in Environmental Management.
