The Kentaro Tsutsumi Fellowship is awarded to students with outstanding graduate research potential in structural engineering, who have demonstrated meritorious academics, good character, and promise as leaders in the profession.
Professor Kentaro Tsutsumi taught at Tufts University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for 23 years. His projects included dozens of bridges, dams, and buildings. He invented the Type T Isolation Pier, a platform that isolates movement to a millionth of an inch and was created for use in space launches.
