Tufts IEEE HKN student chapter awarded for excellence
Each year, IEEE Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE HKN), the honor society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), highlights IEEE HKN student chapters that follow best practices for successful chapters. While every chapter across the country has the capacity to be named a Key Chapter, a select number of chapters receive the recognition every year.
The student chapter at Tufts was named a Key Chapter for academic year 2019-2020, standing out as a model for other chapters. Before the year was interrupted by COVID-19, the chapter participated in the fall 2019 IEEE-HKN Student Leadership Conference, which was hosted at Tufts. The group also inducted 24 students in December 2019 and planned volunteer opportunities for those new inductees, including ES3 tutoring twice a week, a soldering workshop where students made their own nightlights, and improving the chapter’s website.
IEEE HKN provides community and professional development opportunities to early-career electrical and electronics engineers. The student chapter at Tufts University was founded in 1964.
