International Travel Safety

Tufts is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, faculty and staff when they travel, especially to areas of the world that present heightened health and safety risks. In accordance with Tufts' Policy for International Travel Safety, all university-related travel has to be registered with the Tufts Travel Registry.

In particular, areas that have a U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory Level 3 or 4 have been identified as regions that require special efforts to mitigate risk. All travel involving Tufts students to an area with a U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory Level 3 or 4 has to be reviewed and approved by Tufts.

Tufts Travel Registry

  • Information captured by the Tufts Travel Registry will automatically be registered with Tufts' global assistance provider.
  • In the event of an emergency, this registry will enable Tufts to locate and contact you to coordinate help.
  • The registry allows travelers to securely store a copy of their passport.

Domestic Travel and Transportation

Individual students and student organizations frequently have a need for transportation to locations beyond the campus for Tufts sponsored programs and activities. For any university business travel it is important that students first review the University Fleet Policy.

Rental Vehicles

The Office of Campus Life has rules regarding the renting and operation of vehicles. Several student organizations and the Athletic Department have their own designated vehicles. These vehicles are managed by the specific student organizations/departments and are for the business of those organizations/departments only. Student Organizations with budget approval, either through a representing Campus Department or the TCU Treasury may also reserve vehicles from rental companies. Please review the OCL website for the most up-to-date information about renting vehicles.
