The School of Engineering is pleased to announce that Ankit Bhardwaj has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, effective August 1, 2025.

Bhardwaj earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Utah, where his research focused on controlled data and compute placement strategies to enhance application performance at scale. He also holds a Master of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.  Most recently, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar with the Parallel and Distributed Operating Systems group at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

Bhardwaj’s research centers on the design of low-latency, resource-efficient, and highly scalable datacenter systems. His work spans the development of new operating systems, distributed system architectures, cloud-scale computing platforms, and systems for machine learning —with a focus on optimizing performance and efficiency in modern datacenter infrastructure.

At Tufts, Bhardwaj’s work will contribute to the university’s expertise in computer science and interdisciplinary research. As cloud computing, big data, and AI-driven applications continue to expand, Tufts students and researchers will benefit from Bhardwaj’s expertise in building foundational systems that can handle large-scale computation with high performance and low energy costs.

The School of Engineering is excited to welcome Bhardwaj to the faculty and looks forward to the impact his work will have on both research and education at Tufts.
