Doctoral student wins conference awards
At the recent 2018 Applied Superconductivity Conference, Federica Pierro, a doctoral student in mechanical engineering, won two awards for research.
Pierro's presentation, "Measurement of Critical Current of RE:BCO Tapes as a Function of Strain, Magnetic field (10-15 T) and Temperature (4.2-50 K)," received first place in the Materials category of the Student Paper Competition and the Victor Keilin Memorial Prize (Materials) for Best Paper in the category "Development of Superconducting Materials for Large Scale Applications."
The ASC Conference has been in operation for over fifty years, and invites researchers to share their work in the electronics, large scale, and materials fields within the applied superconductivity community.
