Miller named AIIA Fellow
Professor Eric Miller of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was recently named a Fellow of the Industry Academy within the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA). Fellows are selected based on their leadership and exceptional accomplishments in their field. AIIA fellows are committed to promoting the widespread application of artificial intelligence across diverse sectors.
As a Fellow, Miller will collaborate within the alliance and provide guidance on technical issues and decisions. His role will help facilitate the global growth of artificial intelligence across various industries which in turn is expected to foster economic development. The organization has members and fellows from around the world.
Miller's research interests include statistical- and physics-based signal and imaging modeling and processing, tomographic image formation and object characterization, and inverse problems. This work has been carried out in the context of applications including human performance assessment, materials science, airport security, medical imaging, environmental monitoring and remediation, unexploded ordnance remediation, and automatic target detection and classification. Miller earned his PhD in electrical engineering from MIT and he joined Tufts in 2007. Currently the Director of the Tufts Institute for Artificial Intelligence, he served as chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2012-2021 and as Associate Dean of Research for the School of Engineering from 2009-2012.
The International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA) was incorporated in Hong Kong in 2023. The AIIA is a non-profit industry organization and brings together an interdisciplinary group of experts from academia, research institutions, investment, consulting, and other industries, who are all actively engaged in the field of artificial intelligence. The mission of the alliance is to promote the development of the international artificial intelligence industry, encourage innovation and application of artificial intelligence technology in various industries, facilitate the deep integration of artificial intelligence with the economy and society, and contribute to the progress and development of human society.
