Soldier Technology Day
The Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences (CABCS) was highlighted at the State House as an innovative partnership between the Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center and academia.
The Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences (CABCS) at Tufts University was highlighted at Soldier Technology Day at the Massachusetts State House on June 19, 2019. State Senator Karen Spilka sponsored the event with the purpose to educate members of the state legislature and select influencers about the efforts of the Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Soldier Center and Massachusetts community partners to increase military readiness, and protect and optimize soldiers.
The CABCS was presented as an innovative partnership between the CCDC Soldier Center and academia with world class facilities and innovative multidisciplinary science. Highlighted CABCS work included augmented reality for spatial memory and navigation, neurostimulation for performance enhancement, virtual training tools, virtual human performance testbed, and innovative human sensing. Invited to observe was the governor of Massachusetts, members of the Massachusetts state legislature from Natick, industry representatives and partners, state economic development representatives, members of the Massachusetts Military Task Force, members of the Massachusetts Congressional delegations, the media and the general public.
Founded in 2015, the Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences is a cooperative research initiative between Tufts School of Engineering and the Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center. The Center's mission is to bring together a unique interdisciplinary community of scientists and engineers to advance the state of the art in applied brain and cognitive sciences. The Center provides an innovative environment for conducting collaborative applied research focusing on measuring, predicting, and enhancing cognitive capabilities and human system interactions for individuals and teams working in naturalistic high-stakes environments.
