As an R-1 university with high research activity and as a member of the Association of American Universities, Tufts places an emphasis on supporting research through initiatives like the Tufts Springboard Awards. In the latest round of funding, four projects involving School of Engineering (SOE) faculty or staff members received Springboard Awards. An intramural grant program sponsored by the Office of the Provost, Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR), and Tufts School of Medicine, the awards fund high-quality, high-impact research, scholarship, and educational initiatives that have an explicit plan leading to extramural funding or other outcomes that further influence research, scholarship, and/or policy. This year, all four projects with engineering affiliations were in Tier 2, which provides up to $35,000 and funds projects for up to one year.
