Faculty named to advisory committee
Recently, two faculty members with appointments in Tufts’ Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering were named to the Water and Health Advisory Committee at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Professor David Gute and Research Professor Daniele Lantagne joined a multi-sectoral group of experts on the committee.
Gute, Lantagne, and fellow members of the Water and Health Advisory Committee will assist the organizers of the UNC Water and Health Conference in planning their upcoming fall 2024 meeting, which will focus on the intersection of science and policy. The annual conference explores the latest learnings around water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), offering attendees the opportunity to participate in plenaries, verbal presentations, and poster presentations.
Gute’s research interests lie at the intersection of public health and engineering and include environmental and occupational epidemiology and environmental health and safety. He holds a primary appointment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tufts School of Engineering as well as appointments with the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and with the Friedman School of Nutrition Science.
Lantagne holds a primary appointment at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy’s Feinstein International Center, where she studies water, sanitation, hygiene, and infectious diseases, investigating and evaluating the efficacy and effectiveness of WASH interventions in developing countries and emergencies. She holds a secondary appointment as a research professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
