Associate Professor Valencia Koomson of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was recently elevated to Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), in recognition of her experience and professional accomplishments. Only 10% of IEEE's more than 400,000 members have achieved the level of Senior Member.

In the Advanced Integrated Circuits and Systems Laboratory, Koomson designs and implements innovative high-performance, low-power microsystems. Her recent research includes a wearable FD-NIRS device that could measure cerebral and tissue oxygenation, non-invasive imaging of deep tissue, and mobile health tools to fill gaps in hypertension management in emerging economies.

IEEE is the leading professional association for electrical engineering and electronic engineering. It is the world's largest association of technical professionals. Tufts School of Engineering and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering congratulate Professor Koomson on this prestigious achievement.
