Tufts Innovates and Collaborates

In order to foster ongoing collaboration and innovation in scholarship and teaching, the Office of the Provost sponsors two seed grant programs, Tufts Collaborates and Tufts Innovates. Through these programs, the university has supported more than 200 groundbreaking projects.

The Tufts Collaborates Seed Grant Program encourages the first steps in interdisciplinary collaboration by supporting new faculty pilot projects that engage at least two disciplines and cross institutional lines. The grants are overseen by the Office of the Vice Provost of Research. The School of Engineering recipients are: 

Estimating Individual Treatment Effects from Randomized Clinical Trials Using Machine Learning Principal Investigator: Michael Hughes, Ann and Peter Lambertus Term Assistant Professor in Computer Science

Dissecting the Role of Bioelectricity in Cancer Metastasis Principal Investigator: Madeleine Oudin, Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering
