Young alumni recognized as leaders
Forbes' annual 30 Under 30 lists recognize up-and-coming entrepreneurs and innovators under the age of 30. The 2018 lists recognize several alumni from Tufts School of Engineering and the School of Arts and Sciences' major in computer science: Earl St. Sauver, E13, Marshall Moutenot, E13, Alden Keefe Sampson, A13, and Daniel Kass, A13.
St. Sauver, who graduated in 2013 with a B.S. in chemical and biological engineering, was recognized on the Social Entrepreneurs list as a cofounder of Apollo Agriculture. The company seeks to provide data and analytics to smallholder farms across Africa, using remote sensing, smart phones, and agronomic machine learning. In addition to being a cofounder, St. Sauver is the CTO.
Moutenot and Sampson were computer science majors at Tufts, and their geospatial analytics start-up, Upstream Tech, combines water flow datasets, machine learning, and satellite imagery to help actors like energy companies more effectively manage freshwater resources. They were recognized on Forbes' Energy list, and their start-up recently joined hydropower energy company Natel Energy.
After graduating from Tufts with a computer science degree, Daniel Kass created JustFix.nyc, which is a free service that helps New York City tenants build legal cases, report housing code violations, and fight evictions. Kass and cofounder Georges Clement were recognized on Forbes' Law & Policy list.
