Massachusetts Rivers Alliance, an organization that works to strengthen statewide river policy, will recognize Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering alumna Viki Zoltay during the organization’s annual meeting in September 2021.

Zoltay completed her master’s thesis under the guidance of Professor Emeritus Richard Vogel. Together, they developed an integrated watershed management optimization model to screen water resource management options across jurisdictions for cost-effectiveness and environmental and economic sustainability.

She is now a hydrologist within the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Office of Water Resources, where she often serves as a liaison between technical experts and policy-making representatives.

The River Hero Awards celebrate scientists, legislators, and advocates whose work aligns with the organization’s mission to improve water quality, streamflow, wildlife habitat, and green infrastructure investment. The celebration event will occur on September 12, 2021 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Hale Reservation in Westwood, MA. Click here to learn more about the event.
