A new way of connecting at Tufts

The Herd platform offers a multitude of ways for members of the Tufts community to connect.

At the Spring 2023 meeting of the Department of Computer Science’s External Advisory Board, the board members learned about a new platform at Tufts called The Herd. It is an online community that serves as a place to connect with students or fellow alumni for career mentoring, networking, and more. This platform serves Tufts undergraduates, graduates, and alumni from the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the SMFA at Tufts.

The Herd provides invaluable tools for current students, alumni, faculty, and staff to find opportunities and connect with one another. Some of the services include:

  • Current students can register as a way to connect with Tufts alumni. Students can find mentors to guide them along their desired career path and potential internship opportunities.

  • Alumni can connect with one another through professional affinity and identify groups on The Herd. In addition to connecting with fellow alumni, users can engage with current students as volunteer mentors. Alumni can also host current students for short-term virtual projects or internships posted through the Jumbos4Jumbos program.

  • Faculty can choose to register through The Herd if they are interested in mentoring Tufts students.

  • Staff can use The Herd to search for alumni who might be interested in volunteering for panels or other programs.

Launched in 2018, members of the Tufts community can register to access the software. Learn more about The Herd or contact Nicole Anderson or Natalia Menard at the Tufts Career Center with any alumni-related questions.
