Tufts Welcomes New Faculty in 2026
The School of Engineering is welcoming six new full-time faculty members to Tufts this year. With expertise ranging from engineering education to surgical robots, their teaching, research, and professional experience will strengthen the School’s mission to educate the next generation of engineers and advance innovative scholarship.
AraOluwa Adaramola, Assistant Teaching Professor in Chemical and Biological Engineering
Adaramola received her B.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Purdue University. Her previous research included studying qualitative and quantitative methods to examine students' motivation, learning experiences, and academic performance in an introductory engineering class.
Lidia Al-Zogbi, Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering
Al-Zogbi received her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on advancing technology in medicine, with a particular emphasis on increasing levels of robotic autonomy for diagnostic and interventional applications.
Shaanan Cohney, Assistant Professor in Computer Science
Cohney’s research sits at the intersection of computer security, privacy, law, and public policy, with a focus on how real-world technical systems interact with legal and institutional constraints. He joins Tufts from the University of Melbourne, where he held a tenured faculty appointment. He earned his Ph.D. in computer and information science, as well as a Master's in law, from the University of Pennsylvania.
Daniel Mitropolsky, Assistant Professor in Computer Science
Mitropolsky received his Ph.D. in theoretical computer science at Columbia University. His research focuses on the theoretical computer science of intelligence, both natural (brains) and artificial (AI).
Laurent Pilon, Inaugural Director of the Tufts Epsilon Materials Institute and Epsilon Energy Materials Innovation Professor in Mechanical Engineering
Pilon brings extensive expertise in interfacial and transport phenomena, radiative heat transfer, and materials science, advancing technologies that improve sustainable energy conversion, storage, and efficiency. He received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in applied physics from the Grenoble Institute of Technology, France, and earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
Corey White, Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering
White received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on the synthesis of novel III-V semiconductors and emerging epitaxial growth techniques by molecular beam epitaxy for (opto)electronic applications.
